Born from the UH-X New Utility Helicopter Requirement of the Japanese Military, the Subaru-Bell 412EPX is a twin engined commercial variant of the Subaru-Bell XUH-2 Helicopter. Making its first Asia appearance at the Singapore Airshow 2020, The Subaru-Bell 412EPX features a more robust main rotor gear box using Subaru’s unique laser peening technology, increased internal Maximum Gross Weight to 12,200 lbs. and mast torque output of +11% at speeds below 60 knots, providing larger transport capabilities and achieve better operational efficiency.
Subaru and Bell's history spans over 6 decades, having a long standing partnership in the licensed production of UH-1H/204B-2, UH-1J/205B and AH-1S helicopters. While Subaru's maintenance services and helicopter sales are mainly targeted for the Japanese market, their first time participation in the Singapore Airshow 2020 could be an indication of Subaru's direction in marketing the Subaru-Bell 412EPX at the regional market, or at the very least, create brand awareness for the company's developments & services.
