Qatar Airways resumes A380 flights

Apr. 7, 2020 - Qatar Airways has resumed its Airbus A380 service just days after removing the aircraft from service due to very low demand as a result of travel restrictions and growing fears of COVID-19’s spread.

However, Doha Hamid International Airport, Qatar Airways base is still open to international connections and transiting passengers thus resulting in the influx of passengers that fly on Qatar Airways, while major international connecting airports such as Singapore Changi, Hong Kong International, and Taipei Taoyuan remain closed to international transiting passengers.

The airline was previously relying on its Airbus A350 for long to medium-haul international flights. The reversal of the decision to reverse the grounding of the A380 came when the gulf carrier started seeing 80% load factors on flights to Europe. The airline will currently resume flights on their Frankfurt, London, and Perth flights.
