QANTAS TO CANCEL ALL INTERNATIONAL FLIGHTS

(March 19th, 2020) - Qantas Group announced today plans to cancel all International Flights, effective end March 2020, with possibilities of lasting till end of May this year. The set time of end March allows Qantas to assist with repatriation of travellers. This comes in the airlines latest efforts to meet the declining demand of air travel with new imposed border restrictions in many countries, as well as to cut costs throughout the airline. Earlier announcements on grounding all Airbus A380s now includes all Boeing 747s, B787-9 as well as Jetstar 787-8s.

Qantas's domestic network is also greatly affected, with a planned reduction of up to 60% flight capacity. Qantas Cargo operations would continue as normal, with some of their domestic aircraft to be used for freighter operations.

The Airline states essential domestic, regional and freight connections will be maintained as much as possible.
