Singapore hosts the Inaugural BAAFEx, Aiming to Accelerate Growth in the Asia-Pacific Business Aviation Sector
Singapore took center stage in the business aviation industry with the launch of the Business Aviation Asia Forum and Expo (BAAFEx) 2025 by Experia Events. As one of the fastest-growing markets globally, Asia’s business aviation sector is witnessing unprecedented expansion, and BAAFEX aims to provide a premier platform to foster connections, showcase innovations, and drive the industry forward.

The Rising Demand for Business Aviation in Asia
Asia stands as the third-largest market for business aviation worldwide, and its rapid expansion within the APEC region is reshaping global aviation trends. With a growing appetite for private jets, the market has demonstrated strong purchasing intent. In 2019, 51.9% of surveyed individuals indicated interest in acquiring business jets; by 2024, this figure has risen to 54%.
Fleet growth in the Asia-Pacific region has outpaced global averages, with business jet numbers expected to soar from 1,600 in 2019 to 1900 by 2043. This growth rate of 2.1% per year surpasses the global average of 1.4%, highlighting Asia’s expanding footprint in the aviation landscape.

The business aviation industry in Asia-Pacific has rebounded strongly, exceeding pre-COVID levels. Aircraft utilisation rates have surged, with flying hours up 40.9% compared to 2019. From corporate operators to fractional ownership and charter services, all segments have seen significant increases in aircraft activity. Between 2023 and 2024 alone, corporate operators and fractional ownership utilisation increased by 11%, while charter operations rose by 16%. The resurgence underscores the sector’s resilience and growing reliance on business aviation as a critical mode of transport.

Asia-Pacific’s Expanding MRO Capabilities
With the expanding fleet, demand for Maintenance, Repair, and Overhaul (MRO) services has intensified. The Asia-Pacific region is projected to witness a 4.1% compound annual growth rate in MRO services from 2025 to 2034, outpacing the global average of 3.2%. This growth is fueled by the increasing number of high-net-worth individuals in the region—expected to reach 120,000 by 2027—driving a greater need for corporate and luxury travel solutions.

Why BAAFEx?
Despite strong market fundamentals and buoyant demand, the Asia-Pacific business aviation sector lacks a global platform to facilitate growth, collaboration, and industry evolution. BAAFEx is set to bridge this gap, providing a dedicated forum for stakeholders to converge and drive meaningful discussions on the industry’s future.

Singapore stands as a strategic gateway to the Asia-Pacific market, offering unparalleled connectivity, a business-friendly environment, and world-class aviation infrastructure. With its status as a global financial and legal hub, Singapore is well-positioned to support the expansion of business aviation across the region.
Seletar Airport Advantages: Unlike Changi Airport, Seletar Airport does not require slots for aircraft operations, making it an attractive option for private jet operators. Training slots for student pilots seeking their private pilots license and recreational flying are published, but exceptions are readily granted.
Cost-Effective Landing Fees: While Changi Airport commands higher landing fees, its global hub status justifies the premium. Seletar Airport, however, offers a more cost-effective alternative.
Diverse Ground Handling Options: Operators benefit from six ground handlers at Seletar Airport and two at Changi Airport, providing flexibility in selecting Fixed Base Operators (FBOs) that best suit their operational needs.
Simplified Flight Operations: Private jets do not require a landing permit or overfly permit to operate at Singapore’s commercial airports. Only revenue charter flights require an Operations Permit, streamlining the process for business jet travel.
What to Expect at BAAFEx 2025
The inaugural BAAFEx 2025 promises to be a dynamic event, featuring:
